History and Special Features of Jainism
Jainism is a most dynamic and scientific religion.
The Jain religion is in existence since time immemorial.
First Tirthankar - Lord Adinath (Rushabhdev) established Jain Chaturvidh Sangh (Sadhu - Sadhvi - Shravak - Shravika).
Last Tirthankar of the present yuga (kaal), twenty-fourth in line to Rushabhdev, is Lord Mahavir, from 597 to 525
BC (about 2600 years ago).
The Jain religion is based on Ahimsa and a very high standard of life.
High standard code of conduct is prescribed for Sadhus, Sadhvis, Shravaks and Shravikas.
Prime and foremost mantra of the Jain religion is Navkar mantra, powerful and all effective.
The religion's primary literature is contained in 32 Agam Sutras, originally written in Ardha Magadhi / Prakrit.

We strive to forgive and forget.
The Jain religion teaches us to serve our elders, saints, gurus, the sick and the downtrodden.
Anna daan, Abhay daan and Gnan daan are the best of all daans (donations).
Jains are advised to give at least two ghadis (48 minutes) time for self-introspection.
Body and Soul are separate. The soul is immortal.
The ultimate goal of life is moksh (salvation).
